A Banarasi silk saree is an exquisite traditional Indian garment handwoven in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It features fine silk fabric adorned with intricate designs made using gold and silver brocade (zari), with characteristic floral and foliate motifs, kalga and bel patterns, and a striking border often called jhallar. Banarasi sarees are prized for their elegance, lustrous sheen, and craftsmanship, making them a popular choice for weddings and festive occasions. They are relatively heavy due to the densely woven silk and elaborate embroidery.
